It's truly acknowledged that a single man (or woman, come on Jane Austen, it's 2016 after all) in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a Bajan holiday, and there is no better time to go than November. This year, Barbados celebrates its 50th anniversary of independence on 30 November. You can fly in two weeks earlier to soak up the carnival atmosphere of its Food, Wine and Rum festival from November 17-20, and then drink in the many joyous independence festivities.
CAYMAN ISLANDS
Fancy some Caribbean skulduggery this November? Thought we'd never ask? Well, now we have. Pirates Week in the Cayman Islands is less of a week and more of a month's celebration of the pirate legacy in the Caribbean. Well you may not bump into Johnny Depp but - Pirates Week is a communion of scalawags from the world over, and the jolliest of all Rogers.
FLORIDA
With Disneyland, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, The Wizard World of Harry Potter, Busch Gardens, and a host of other theme parks that would be ink-inefficient to list, Florida - especially Orlando - is every child's paradise. What's more, with a Caribbean coast that includes the jaw-dropping Florida Keys, the Sunshine State is the perfect destination for a family holiday.
ANTIGUA
For the sun-lovers out there, Antigua has a staggering 365 beaches - that's one for almost every day of a leap year. Birthplace to cricket legend and the world's most greatest batsmen of all time, Sir Viv Richards, Antigua's atmosphere is suitably DE-stressed. Add this happy environment to the hazy Caribbean sun and you will come home feeling like you've been on a yoga retreat in Bali.
KO SAMUI
The second largest island in Thailand (after Phuket) is arguably the safest bet for winter sun in the east. Aside from the perfectly white beaches and exotic palm trees, there are world-class restaurants, luxurious spas and beach bar parties are plenty. Unlike most of the Southeast Asian backpacker trail, Ko Samui is paradise for everyone - Keep an eye out for the Buddhist temples, too. Can't be missed!
TIGNES
If you are looking for a chance of some early season skiing, untarnished by queues for the lifts or the words, "no room at the inn", then Tignes with its powdered glaciers is the place to start. For those of you averse to beach days, too, it represents an active and exciting alternative to Caribbean paradise.
BUENOS AIRES
Argentina is the world's capital of polo and the Argentine Open is a competition like no other. Running from November 12 through to mid-December, we recommend combining a trip to the magnificent Buenos Aires with some high-class spectating. In its 123rd renewal, this event is as safe as a bet for a good day out.
BORNEO
Home to one of the oldest rainforests in the world, as well as some of its most breathtaking beaches, Borneo is a location unlike any. Team your winter sun-lovers with a trip to glimpse the life of the Bornean orangutans. You will feel an emotional connection that we can only compare to that of Marley and Me, or Marley and everyone else in the cinema.
MELBOURNE
Less busy than Sydney, just, Melbourne is an intriguing alternative to Australia's quasi-capital. With beaches to rival Bondi and a climate to match, what tips Melbourne in November is the latest renewal of its annual food and wine festival. For those of you looking to cross border control with both a full belly and a full body tan, Melbourne is November's destination of choice.
CALIFORNIA
California is a great place to visit all year round. However, this November, with the Breeders' Cup returning to Santa Anita Park racecourse, it becomes that much better. This annual series of Grade 1 flat races has just raised its total prize fund to $28m. With some of the most talked about celebrities, in line with many of the competitors, as well as the greatest sprinters on the planet. This is an event not to be missed.
ANTARCTICA
Yes. You read right. If there's any time to go to Antarctica, it's probably November. Though not the easiest of travel destinations, several cruise companies take advantage of the falling ice levels to take you up close to some of the continent's most incredible wildlife.
BOTSWANA
For those of you looking for a November safari, Botswana - which last Friday celebrated its 50th year of independence - takes the biscuit. The Chobe National Park in northern Botswana has one of the largest concentrations of game in Africa and, boasting the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and the Gemsbok National Park, this is a hot spot for nature's most awe-inspiring animals.
TURKS AND CAICOS
Hurricane Matthew is looming over TCI, as Brexit is looming over the UK. However, unlike Brexit, hurricanes pass, and come November a hopefully unscathed TCI will open its beautiful borders for the twelfth anniversary of the world renowned Turks and Caicos Conch Festival (November 28). TCI also has some of the most stunning beaches in the Caribbean.
